Lee Dillon for a Fair Deal for Newbury

Lee's top 3 priorities

1. Fixing the crisis in our NHS

Getting a GP appointment in Newbury and across West Berkshire is incredibly hard, and waiting times for ambulances are putting lives at risk. Lee is championing more investment in GP recruitment and in our ambulance service.

2. Tackling sewage in our rivers and streams

The Conservative government is letting water companies get away with the dumping of sewage in our precious waterways like the River Kennet. Lee is demanding a 'Sewage Tax' on water companies to pay to clean up their mess.

3. Demanding action on the cost of living crisis

The cost of living crisis is causing real hardship for local people and businesses - but the Conservative government is refusing to do what it takes to help. Lee is demanding real action, including a cut to household energy bills funded by taxing the huge profits of oil and gas companies.

About Lee

Lee has been a Councillor at West Berks Council since 2007 and became leader of the Council when the Lib Dems took control in May 2023.

He went to school in Thatcham and Newbury, and is a lifelong Thatcham resident, where his family owns a local pub. He was inspired to get into politics by the late Lib Dem MP for Newbury, David Rendel, who represented our area with a passion that Lee would seek to match.

He works for a not-for-profit housing association, who provide homes to those most in need. He is committed to helping those struggling with the current cost of living crisis, and has campaigned to help children on free school meals receive support over the holiday periods, as well as to help save the local ReadiBus service from Conservative cuts.

Away from politics, he is a keen sports fan, and regularly takes his young children to watch Reading play football. One of his favourite sporting moments was watching his hometown team, Thatcham Town, win at Wembley stadium in the 2018 FA Vase Final.

Lee Dillon focussing on winning the Newbury Constituency

The forthcoming general election comes at a critical time for the country. We have a government that’s completely run out of steam and whose key objective seems to be remaining in power rather than trying to solve the serious challenges we all face.
